We had an amazing 10 day trip in Cuba and learned so much about this beautiful and complex country. I highly recommend using Vive Mas Tours owned by Jenny Desmond of Longmont. First of all, Jenny is so attuned to the cultural aspects of traveling and understands the impact of tourists and how we can be better travelers and guests in another country. Prior to the trip she gave virtual talks about the country, its history, and its people, and gave reading and video suggestions. She also took care of our VISAS (which were “on behalf of the Cuban people”) and gave great instructions about the form we needed to complete to enter the country. All of her travel recommendations were spot on from what experiences to plan for, how much cash to bring, what small gifts to bring, and what to pack, while also advising that some experiences would change due to the conditions in the country. There were also many unique surprises along the way, such as finding a Cuban band playing at the Al Capone House, drinking freshly ground coffee made on a wood stove by a wonderful Cuban couple in their humble home in the mountains, and seeing a student performance at an arts school. We felt completely safe everywhere we went from the city of Habana (how it is referred to in Cuba), to the mountains, to the beautiful beach town of Varadero, late at night in the old town of Trinidad, and while at venues of the Havana Jazz Festival. The Cuban people were very warm and welcoming everywhere we went. We even took a ride around Habana in old convertibles now used as taxis. We had traditional Cuban food with many options, eaten mostly at Paradores which are Cuban people owned restaurants versus state owned ones. We enjoyed delicious Cuban coffee and the wonderful homemade breakfasts everyday in the Casas Particulares. Casas are like Bed & Breakfasts, you have a nice private room with your own bathroom, places to relax, and wonderful hosts. Another important aspect of Vive Mas Tours is the local tour guide who manages the trip. Our Cuban guide, Roger was a walking Wikipedia, and knew everything about Cuba from plants to politics. He also had a great sense of humor, was a poet/writer, told wonderful stories, and helped us make connections between history and what we were experiencing. I believe that you cannot begin to know a place unless you understand its history...the stories of its people, the cultural, economic, environmental, and political impacts and…what is its current reality and why it is the way it is. Our trip with Vive Mas Tours was an incredible experience of all of this and more. Thank you Jenny and Roger for this memorable experience.

We just returned from our ten day trip to Cuba with Vive Más Tours. What a wonderful experience! It was fascinating to get up close and personal with the Cuban people. Starting with the pre-trip preparation, it was easy to see that Jenny at Vive Más loves what she does and she takes pride in providing travelers with the best experience possible. Focusing on only a few destinations really allows Vive Más Tours to be experts on everything they do. Staying in casas particulares and eating at paladares allowed us to truly support the Cuban people. Our guide, Roger, and bus driver, Osmany, were the best! They allowed us to meet their families and they showed us their beautiful country. Our itinerary was jam packed with interesting activities every day. I highly recommend Vive Más Tours. We are already discussing traveling again with them to Colombia!

Vive Mas Tours does an amazing Cuban tour. The communication and preparation by Jenny Desmond was the best I have ever experienced from a tour company. We covered a lot of diverse territory in the comfort of our modern, luxurious, air conditioned bus with Roland, our private driver. Our tour guide, Roger, was fun and incredibly well versed in all topics. There was not a question he could not answer, or a bird he could not imitate and literally call out of the bush. He perfectly balanced the abilities and interests of our small, seven person group. Snorkeling, jungle hiking and salsa lessons were a great mix with the UNESCO World Heritage sites and many other fascinating experiences, such as lunch with a family at a mountain farm house. Complete with roasted pig! The people are genuine and curious. This was a truly authentic tour. Cuba is full of music, food, culture and surprises. I am still processing all that I learned. My curiosity about Cuba was satisfied, and then some. If you want to see the real Cuba, book this tour!

Our Vive Más tour to Cuba was so much more that just a tour! More like a live, multi-sensory seminar on Cuba which included in-depth history of the island, interactions with the Cuban people, music, dancing, walks in nature, beautiful beaches, great food and so much more! We felt safe everywhere so could really enjoy the experience, an experience of a lifetime I would say!

Wow! We just got back from a wonderful trip to Cuba with Vive Más. It's amazing how many activities can be packed into so little time. We experienced so many and such a wide variety of things (history, arts, nature, etc.) and I honestly don't think it could have been better. Roger, our guide, was fantastic, and the attention to detail that the Vive Más team provides is impeccable.

Vive Mas Tours put together an itinerary that had us sampling and learning about Colombian history and present day life. Our tour of the organic cocoa farm provided insight into the complexity of growing and producing an international favorite food. Staying in small boutique hotels near walkable cultural sites and activities gave us a truly local view. Colombia showed that it is a safe and diverse country and worth the visit!

Excellent tour of Colombia with a great guide, Luis, who made the trip very interesting, filled with a variety of experiences, tastes and scenery. Fun traveling in a group of 13. Excellent additional city guides. Excellent food. Hotels were budget level and had issues with hot water, not unexpected in a developing country. Good value, good pacing and we felt very cared for and safe!

Friendly, helpful locals, yummy street and restaurant food, lush vegetation, coffee and cacao farm tours, amazing street art, colorful Cartagena and Salento were the highlights of our week in Colombia with Vive Más Tours. Luis, our knowledgeable tour guide, made the trip fun, educational and packed full of experiences to get us to know and appreciate the real Colombia. He went out of his way to make sure all 13 travelers’ needs and wishes were accommodated.
